Experience the history and landmarks guided by a local and toast with a wine at the end

The tour starts from the the area so called "Veronetta". Firstly, we will discover the history of this borough and main Venetian style palaces. 

Passing the bridge of Ponte Navi, we will explain the role of the river Adige in the history and how the past civilizations has taken advantage of its unique position for their trades. 

We will move than towards Piazza delle Erbe passing by stone made Roman gated doors like Porta Leoni and the ambiguous Juliet's House.

The area of Piazza Erbe and nearby medieval squares will be fully covered with stories about fights between kingdoms and favours between families.

We will move than in off the crowd side streets to visit Ponte Pietra old Bridge and walk up 50 steps to see a unique Roman arch at the Theatre.

Passing by to the Verona Cathedral we will end our tour at the wine bar Osteria del Caval Matto, to discuss the walk, have a glass of wine (escl. from the tour price)  and enjoy with other travellers.

Tasting events are for a maximum of 10 people. Held in one language at the time. Please contact us for group bookings.

What is an 'Osteria'?

An Osteria is the traditional wine bar, it is in such places in fact where our grampas used to spend their time, drinking wine, eating finger-food and playing cards with friends and family

What will I drink at the tasting?

Our wine selection rotates yearly. At the moment, we serve Prosecco col Fondo (ancient version of P.), Soave, Rosso IGT Valpolicella and Valpolicella Classico. Plus something to eat along and water to appreciate every note of these natural wines.

Prosecco Col Fondo: An artisanal style of Prosecco with a slight cloudiness due to sediment in the bottle. It offers a lively effervescence, vibrant acidity, and flavors of citrus and white flowers.

Natural Soave: A minimal intervention Soave made with organic grapes, showcasing pure expression of Garganega. It's unfiltered, preserving its natural character, offering a textured mouthfeel and notes of ripe orchard fruits.

Le Quarette by Antica Valpolicella Winery: A captivating red blend from Antica Valpolicella Winery, combining Corvina, Rondinella, and other native grapes. It reveals a harmonious balance of dark fruit, spice, and elegant tannins, showcasing the winery's expertise.

Valpo from Antica Valpolicella Winery: A flagship red wine from Antica Valpolicella Winery, crafted using traditional appassimento methods. It delivers rich layers of black cherry, plum, and chocolate, supported by velvety tannins and a long, lingering finish.

How can I get to the location?

No car needed, you can walk to the location as it's in the city center, just 10 minutes from Arena. Otherwise Bus or Taxi can be taken from Castelvecchio (3 minute ride) or Porta Borsari (4 minutes). .
